The Sadiqoon parliamentary expressed its surprise and condemnation on Sunday of the statements made by the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament during his speech at the Eighth Conference of the Arab Parliament, which included condemning the Iranian response to the American bases that were used in the aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, while not condemning the American-Zionist aggression against it.
The bloc affirmed in a statement that any country has the right, based on international law and the principle of self-defense, to respond to any attack targeting its sovereignty and security, stressing that it is not permissible to distort the facts by condemning those who defend their land and exonerating the party that started the aggression.
She added that these statements represent the personal position of the Speaker of Parliament and do not reflect the position of the Iraqi Parliament, the Iraqi government, or the Iraqi people, noting that they did not have any mandate or national consensus, which confirms that they were issued unilaterally and cannot be considered to express an official Iraqi position.
The Sadiqoon parliamentary bloc reiterated its affirmation that Iraq, government and people, stands on the side of right, and refuses to have its voice exploited in the wrong place or to be dragged into positions that do not represent its national will.
