The official spokesman for the Sadiqoon parliamentary, Muhammad Karim al-Baldawi, confirmed on Sunday that the era of impunity has ended, stressing that restoring the prestige of the state can only be achieved through the rule of law and holding accountable all those who have misappropriated public funds or exploited their position to harm the interests of citizens.
Al-Baldawi said in a statement that "the bloc fully and steadfastly supports all legal measures taken by the competent authorities to pursue corruption cases, hold those involved accountable, recover the state's rights, and dry up the sources of corruption," stressing "the need to continue this campaign until its goals are fully achieved, away from any pressures or political or personal considerations".
He added that "the fight against corruption is not a temporary or circumstantial campaign, but rather a national battle aimed at protecting state institutions, preserving public funds, establishing the principles of justice and transparency, and enhancing citizens' trust in their institutions, stressing that building a strong state requires that the law be the arbiter and that everyone be subject to its provisions without exception".
Al-Baldawi pointed out that "imposing the prestige of the state begins with the fair and firm application of the law, and that protecting the homeland requires eradicating corruption from its roots, and not allowing any party or person to tamper with the resources of Iraq or diminish the rights of its people".
Al-Baldawi reiterated his affirmation that "the position of the Sadiqoon will remain firm in supporting every legal step that consolidates the authority of the state, preserves public funds, and enhances the prestige of institutions, leading to a strong Iraq in which rights are protected and the law is above everyone".
