The General Secretar -of the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, His Eminence Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, received today, Saturday, in his office in the capital, Baghdad, the Ambassador of the French Republic to Iraq, Mr. Patrick Durel, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and France, and to open wider horizons for cooperation in diplomatic and development fields, in a way that contributes to serving the common interests of the two countries.
His Eminence Sheikh Al-Khazali stressed the importance of benefiting from advanced French expertise and experiences in the fields of development and institutional development, especially in the security and economic sectors, in order to support Iraq’s efforts to consolidate stability and achieve sustainable development.
The meeting also witnessed an exchange of views on a number of issues of common interest, with emphasis on the importance of continuing dialogue and coordination, in order to strengthen bilateral relations and serve security and stability in the region.
The visit came on the occasion of the end of the French ambassador’s mission to Iraq, as His Eminence Sheikh Qais al-Khazali expressed his appreciation for the efforts he made during his tenure in strengthening relations between the two countries, wishing him success in his future duties.
At the end of the meeting, His Eminence presented the French Ambassador with a commemorative shield bearing symbols of Iraqi antiquities and civilization, expressing the depth of the Iraqi cultural heritage and in appreciation of the bilateral relations between the two countries.
