The Sadiqoon parliamentary condemned in the strongest terms on Wednesday the attack that targeted a number of headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces, considering it a blatant violation of Iraq's sovereignty and an attack on its official security institutions. It called on the Iraqi government to take firm sovereign, legal and diplomatic positions and measures to preserve Iraq's rights and protect its security, in addition to calling for an emergency session of the House of Representatives to discuss the repercussions of the attack and to take positions that would protect the country's sovereignty.
The head of the Sadiqoon parliamentary, Uday Awad al-Tamimi, affirmed that what happened represents an attack on the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces and a violation of Iraq's sovereignty, citing verses by the poet Ahmed Matar to embody the magnitude of the tragedy, and stressing that the blood of the martyrs should be an incentive for a unified national stance that preserves Iraq's dignity and rejects any attack on its land and institutions, calling for mercy for the martyrs and healing for the wounded, and emphasizing that sovereignty is not a slogan but a stance that is translated into actions.
For his part, Mohammed al-Baldawi, spokesperson for the Sadiqun parliamentary bloc, condemned the attack, describing it as criminal. He emphasized that targeting members of the Popular Mobilization Forces and pilgrims, and the resulting martyrs and wounded among the fighters and innocent civilians, necessitates a clear national and international stance. He noted that the martyrs' procession will remain a symbol of sacrifice and devotion, especially as the incident coincided with the pilgrimage of believers to Karbala to commemorate the Arba'een of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). He called on the Iraqi government to take all necessary legal, diplomatic, and sovereign measures to deter such attacks. He also urged the international community and the United Nations to uphold their responsibilities by condemning any aggression against Iraqi territory and working to prevent the recurrence of such violations and hold those responsible accountable under international law.
For his part, Habib Al-Halawi stressed that Saudi Arabia’s declaration of responsibility for targeting sites inside Iraqi territory represents an explicit admission of aggression and violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and an attack on its official security institutions, stressing that protecting Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is a national responsibility that cannot be compromised, and demanding that the government take all necessary diplomatic and legal measures to preserve Iraq’s rights and protect its sovereignty.
In the same context, Ahmed Kain Al-Khazali stressed that targeting the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces represents a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and an attack on its official security institutions, which threatens the country’s security and stability. He emphasized that preserving Iraq’s sovereignty and protecting its institutions requires a unified national stance that rejects any attack on Iraqi soil, calling on the government to take an official position regarding these attacks, and praying for mercy for the martyrs and a speedy recovery for the wounded.
For his part, Rafiq al-Salihi described the attacks that targeted a number of official Popular Mobilization Forces headquarters in various parts of Iraq as a very dangerous escalation, a violation of the country’s sovereignty, and a targeting of its official security institutions, directing a warning to the Saudi regime against the consequences of any new escalation.
Saad Shaker Al-Khazali stressed that attacking any Iraqi security institution represents a clear violation of Iraq's sovereignty and an unacceptable transgression against the authority of the state and the dignity of its people. He pointed out that the blood of Iraqis is not a bargaining chip in the conflicts of others and that Iraq's sovereignty is not a matter for negotiation or compromise. He called for a unified national stance that rejects all forms of aggression and foreign interference, and affirms respect for international law and the prevention of turning Iraq into an arena for settling scores, while emphasizing that preserving Iraq's security and stability is a national responsibility that does not accept compromise.
Salem al-Absawi called for an emergency session of Parliament to hold the government fully responsible for protecting Iraq's sovereignty, emphasizing that the country's sovereignty is a red line and that the blood of the martyrs will not go unpunished. He called for all appropriate measures to be taken to respond to the attack.
Mohammed Abu al-Eis also condemned the attack targeting the Popular Mobilization Forces and pilgrims during the Arba'een commemoration of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), considering it a blatant violation of Iraq's sovereignty. He demanded that the Iraqi government take decisive legal, diplomatic, and sovereign measures to protect the homeland and the security of its citizens and to stop such violations.
For his part, Adel Al-Rikabi questioned the timing of the attack, which occurred just before the Prime Minister’s scheduled visit to Saudi Arabia, considering what happened to be an unjustified attack on the Iraqi state and an official security apparatus linked to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. He also raised questions about the fate of the memoranda of understanding signed with the United States, expressing his belief that the visit had become impossible, and stressing that the blood of the sons of Iraq is not negotiable.
In the same context, Raad Shakhair Al-Zaidawi stressed that the attack that targeted the official headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces represents a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq and an infringement on an official security institution that had a role in defending the homeland and confronting terrorism. He called for a clear governmental and parliamentary stance and for taking all necessary political, diplomatic and legal measures to preserve the prestige of the state and prevent the recurrence of such attacks. He also called on the House of Representatives to hold a session to discuss the repercussions of the incident and to take positions that are consistent with the constitution and preserve Iraq’s sovereignty and security.
For her part, Sarah Zaid Al-Muhammadawi condemned the aggression that targeted a number of Popular Mobilization Forces headquarters in a number of governorates and led to the fall of martyrs, stressing that what happened represents a blatant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty, and demanded that the Iraqi government not allow this attack to pass without a stance, and take the necessary measures to protect Iraq’s sovereignty and preserve the blood of its sons.
At the conclusion of their statements, the Sadiqoon MPs reiterated that targeting the Popular Mobilization Forces constitutes an attack on the Iraqi state and its official institutions and a violation of the country's sovereignty. They called on the Iraqi government and the relevant authorities to take firm stances and legal, diplomatic, and sovereign measures to preserve Iraq's prestige and protect its security. They expressed their condolences to the families of the martyrs and prayed for mercy for the martyrs and a speedy recovery for the wounded.
