The Sadiqoon parliamentary affirmed on Thursday its rejection of what it described as the approach of merely presenting problems without offering practical solutions, calling on ministers to assume their constitutional responsibilities by preparing clear reform programs and development plans coupled with specific timetables, and announcing its intention to issue a quarterly evaluation of the ministers’ performance with transparency before the public.
The bloc said in a statement that assuming ministerial responsibility from the first moment requires the minister to have a full understanding of the nature of the reality he is managing, with its accumulated challenges and crises resulting from mismanagement, lack of scientific planning, and the pervasiveness of corruption. It stressed that responsibility is not limited to diagnosing the shortcomings, but extends to providing realistic and courageous treatments, and creating unconventional scientific and practical solutions that are commensurate with the size of the challenges.
She added that the reality indicates, unfortunately, that the majority of ministers have not presented work programs or development plans capable of advancing their ministries and addressing their accumulated crises, indicating that some ministers have become content with presenting problems during the sessions of the House of Representatives without providing solutions, or they seek to restrict the legislative and oversight role of the council under the pretext of crises, which was embodied, according to the statement, during the recent hosting of the Minister of Electricity.
The bloc reiterated its categorical rejection of this approach, considering it to reflect a disavowal of national responsibility in facing challenges, addressing the causes of failure, and preventing deterioration.
The Sadiqoon affirmed its awareness of the depth of the challenges facing various sectors, announcing its support for all sincere efforts and its belief in the principle of integration between the legislative and executive authorities, through the House of Representatives exercising its constitutional powers in legislation and oversight, and monitoring and evaluating the performance of the executive branch based on a comprehensive and specific reform government program that possesses the elements of implementation and alternatives that guarantee the advancement of the service, economic and development reality in the country.
In its concluding statement, the bloc called on the ministers to expedite the submission of their reform and development plans, accompanied by clear implementation timetables, and affirmed to the public its intention to announce its quarterly evaluation of the ministers’ performance with complete transparency and candor.
