The Sadiqoon parliamentary affirmed on Tuesday that the 106th anniversary of the immortal 1920 revolution represents a pivotal national milestone for drawing inspiration from the values ​​of sovereignty, sacrifice, and state-building, stressing that protecting the achievements of Iraqis and preserving independent national decision-making is achieved through political awareness and consolidating state institutions.
In a statement commemorating the immortal anniversary of the 1920 Revolution, the bloc said that this occasion recalls with pride and honor one of the most prominent milestones in the history of modern Iraq, when the will of the Iraqis united in defense of the homeland, its sovereignty and dignity, and they wrote the most wonderful pictures of sacrifice and redemption in the face of the occupation.
She added that commemorating the 1920 revolution is not limited to glorifying its heroism, but requires reading its lessons with awareness and responsibility, stressing that great sacrifices do not achieve their goals unless they are translated into conscious participation in building the state, consolidating its institutions, and protecting the independent national decision, noting that peoples who do not keep pace with their sacrifices with an active political presence may face attempts to confiscate their achievements or monopolize speaking on their behalf.
The bloc stressed that national responsibility at the present stage requires combining adherence to principles and the defense of Iraq’s sovereignty with constitutional and institutional action to ensure that the sacrifices of Iraqis remain the basis for building a just and strong state, far from achieving narrow interests or reproducing hegemony and exclusion.
The Sadiqoon parliamentary reiterated its affirmation that loyalty to the 1920 revolution is demonstrated by preserving national unity, safeguarding the independence of Iraqi decision-making, continuing the reform project, consolidating the rule of law, and protecting the rights of all citizens, in a way that contributes to Iraq remaining a sovereign, free, and dignified nation, faithful to the sacrifices of its people across generations.
The bloc concluded its statement by affirming that glory and eternity belong to the martyrs of Iraq, and mercy to those who made the history of the nation with their blood.
